This is Fred R. WORRELL, born Feb 6, 1906, of Orange County, Indiana.

His parents were William "Willie" WORRELL (1883-1958) and Anna Rutherford (1882-1958).

He worked for the Smith Cabinet Company as a factory worker.

He married (1) Goldie Mae Moon,  (2) Ellie "Fern" Cress Holland (1900-1994), and (3) Vera E Russell.

Fred died October 12, 1984 at a health care center in Salem Indiana. He is buried at Claysville Cemetery in Campbellsburg IN.

More research needed.

MORRISON, Ethel, Fred, Martha (Unknown Loc)

Because this is a postcard photo, there is not the usual photographic studio stamp with which to determine a location where these children resided.

I thought this might have been taken around 1910, but the back of the card features an AZO stamp box with triangles at the corners, pointing up on top and down on bottom. This dates the postcard from 1918 or later. That will be a useful clue.

This will take some serious research!

DAVIS, Frank (unknown location)

 

FRANK DAVIS

This is going to be difficult. Frank Davis is a common name, and there's no location to help pinpoint him, but other photos in the same booth were of people from Columbus OH and Charlottesville VA, so this MAY be the same.

However, there are some clues to be had in the fashion the man is wearing, and in the physical appearance of the photo itself.

The card measures 7 inches x 11 inches, making it larger than the standard "Cabinet Card" of 4.25 x 6.5, and also larger than the oversized Cabinet Card termed "Boudoir Cards" which are typically 5.25 x 8 inches.

The card stock is thick, cream colored, with slighty rounded corners (although this may have come from trimming or wear-and-tear.) The card is cut to a 45 degree beveled edge of contrasting dark grey color, and the cream colored surface has a woven texture.

Beveled edges were most popular 1885-1895, although they were still seen later than that.

The fine woven texture on the face of the card would not have been seen before the later part of the 1890s.

Now looking at the fashion being worn ... we immediately see a large stiff rounded collar. This was a popular style during the first decade of the 1900s. It could be as early as 1902, but probably not as late as 1910. The tie is secured with a small knot, which is appropriate for this same time period. Had the photo been taken a decade earlier, the knot would have been twice that size.

The jacket lapels also point to 1902 and later. In the 1890s the lapels of jackets were much smaller.

All things together, I would date this photograph to 1904-1907. Despite the "bed-head", Frank's hairstyle is one that would have been seen over long list of decades. 

How old is Frank? He appears to be around 20-25, making a target birth year 1882 (give or take 3 years.)

This will take more work.. . and I may need to wait for someone to come to me on this one.

There is no location and no identifying studio marks other than the decorative swastika at bottom center. Since this photo was taken around 1910, decades before the Nazis forever poisoned the decorative swastika with political overtones, we can assume nothing untoward in its appearance here. I have found other bloggers who have mentioned the swastika appearing on early photographic and advertising print presentations. The consensus is that the swastika resting flat on one arm, as this one is, is Hindu in origin (also seen in Buddhist and Native American designs) and represents good luck. By comparison, the Nazi version of the swastika is always presented at a 45 degree angle, balancing on a single point.

This photo was likely taken 1909-1910 based upon the huge hat and clothing styles. The woman appears to be age 25-30. That would put the target birth year at 1884, give or take a few years.

Possibility #1: (I have found a newspaper photo of this Martha Heron, and she is not the right one.)

  Parents: John Brown Heron (1852-1935) and Emily B. Sprankle (1863-1946).
  Spouses:  1) Joseph Judson Brooks, and 2) James Edward MacCloskey.
  Buried: Sewickley Cemetery in Sewickley PA.

Possibility #2:
Martha Heron (Apr 1887 - ) who lived in Weathersfield, Trumbull County Ohio.
  Parents: William Heron (1858- ) and Kaziah Smith (1862) who both immigrated from Wales in 1880.

 Single and living with parents at age 32 on 1920 census.

Possibility #3:
Martha Heron (1883-1962) born in Poland
  Parents: Johannes Heron and Mariana Zarcnibska
  Spouse: Joseph Skwierawski, married in Milwaukee WI 1903.
  Buried: Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee WI

Possibility #4:
Martha Heron (Nov 1886 - May 1965) lived her whole life in Paterson NJ.

  Buried: Paterson NJ

My intuition tells me that the OHIO possibility is the most likely one shown in this photo, and this is strictly based upon where the photo was acquired. The yardsale known as the "Route 127 World's Longest Yardsale" is typically held at the end of July, and is basically a flea market that runs along the Rte 127 from Addison Michigan to Gadsen Alabama, going through Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, along the way. I visited the sale near Salvisa KY.

This will require more work.

Labeled simply "Mrs. Holgate", this photo appears to have taken around 1888. The photographers Machette & Bro. operated at 327 & 416 Lackawanna Ave, Scranton, PA, Frank and James B Machette Jr. 1884-1888.

The surname HOLGATE was a fairly common one in the Scranton area and surrounding communities.

Without a first name, or name of husband, this becomes rather difficult, and will require more research.

No location for this photo, and I have find very few people with surname HANKY spelled like that.

It could be a misspelling of "Hanke" or "Hankey".
